Suki

“My family contacted Sugako because of my dog, Suki’s reactivity towards strangers and leash reactivity towards dogs. We came into this experience without understanding the fear that drove Suki’s reactivity and Sugako helped us see that. That’s been one of the biggest gifts from working with Sugako, the change in perspective and understanding more of the whys- for instance why Suki lunges at strangers walking straight at us, etc. This change in perspective has deepened our relationship with Suki. We have developed better communication and better management skills as dog parents. Sugako’s support has been pivotal in including Suki in important events, such as our wedding. Sugako was able to manage Suki in a scary environment and we had a great ceremony because of that. We are really grateful for Sugako and highly recommend her as a trainer.”

Addie

Sugako is wonderful to work with and has helped us better understand Addie’s needs. She continues to work with us on a personal training program that is specific to our goals with Addie and tailored to Addie’s learning style. We have seen great improvement in Addie and in our own training abilities.”

Roma, part 1

Sugako is a fear-free dog trainer and positive reinforcement trainer! Working with Sugako has been such a positive journey from the beginning. She is super kind, flexible, energetic, reliable, consistent, understanding and really prioritizes the safety and growth of your dog and the owners. It’s a team effort! Sugako genuinely loves and cares for your dog like her own. Roma and I have worked with Sugako over the last year and half and our lives have changed for the better!

Roma used to be a really leash reactive dog and just barked to alert for anything and everything. Now she just boops your hand to tell you about her observations! She is an Estrela livestock guardian dog and training Roma in a different environment outside of our neighborhood  has been phenomenal for her growth (neighborhood with lots of dogs barking at her through the fence in all directions and off leash). Continued…

Roma, Part 2

Roma is now 3 years old and I can loose leash walk with her at the park, beach, dog park, and at the farmers market with more confidence and without all of the anxiety. I can comfortably walk Roma alone which shows the results of Sugako’s training methods. Roma has also learned some parkour and tricks with Sugako.

I hope to work with Sugako for a very long time because she has added so much happiness, training lessons and growth in our lives. Roma is a beautiful, gentle, funny, protective yet sweet and lovely dog and she turns heads! We love that Sugako is able to show the world this through her training. “

Otto

Sugako has been my dog trainer for 4 months, and she has continually proved how amazing she is. I joined Atlas Assistance Dogs to help advance my service dogs training so that he can eventually qualify for ADI, and because I required help on task training, as I am not a professional dog trainer. Sugako has been wonderful to work with. She is forever patient with my endless questions, is always willing to demonstrate and repeat instructions, exceedingly generous with her time and knowledge, and it is clear that she cares about and loves her job! I come back from every session so thankful to be working with her. She has immense knowledge of dog behavior, body language, and training techniques. I have found that her advice and training has improved the bond between myself and Otto, and increased my training abilities so much! Sugako is a joy to work with, and I am so thankful for everything she has done for our team.”

Leo

Working with Sugako will transform your life, and your pup’s for the better! She is extremely knowledgeable and will meet you wherever you are in your training journey. She offers fair pricing and is very easy to communicate/schedule with. She goes above and beyond to make sure you have the skills to help your pup live their best life. She will also very quickly become your dog’s favorite person, so be ready for that! We started working with Sugako through a referral from our neighbors and she helped us immensely with our super reactive aussie, Leo. Thanks to Sugako’s expertise, we have seen huge improvements in Leo’s behavior and we have a much better understanding of how to read his body language and help him be successful. She also helped us out with tons of fun homemade treat recipes, turned us on to parkour to build Leo’s confidence, and even made him a snuffle ball for sensory exploration! Sugako is an absolute joy to work with and is amazing at what she does, you will not regret working with her.”

Frank

“I have known and worked with Sugako since early in her dog training career. Years ago, when I needed someone to handle my non-reactive dog Frank for my Reactive Rover classes, Sugako was the best. She excelled at reading dog body language and knowing exactly when and where to move Frank to avoid triggering the client dog into reactivity. This allowed me to coach the client as they practiced their technique with their reactive dog. Sugako also assisted me many times in advanced behavior cases both in my business and as a volunteer for local rescues. Her insights and skill were always valuable, and helped many dogs.

Sugako has continued her education in behavior science to become an extremely accomplished trainer and behavior consultant. Her knowledge and skill level are impressive. While I was once her mentor, she is now someone who I look up to and learn from. Her thoughtful and kind interactions with people as well as their dogs makes her someone I would happily recommend.”

Boogie

Sugako is probably the most creative and enthusiastic trainer I have ever met! She is incredibly knowledgeable about behavioral science but is also engaging and super fun to work with. We are always thrilled to have her teach classes at Dog’s Day Out.
